Car
The RONCONUOVO hideaway is located on a hillside a few switchbacks above the village of Mese in Valchiavenna. Even though you won’t find any road signs up here, you should enter the address Via Ronco Nuovo 1 in Mese into your GPS. We recommend using this link to the corresponding entry on Google Maps.
Nevertheless, here are a few more direct directions. As you leave Mese heading towards Gordona, take the exit at the roundabout onto Via Madonna delle Grazie, which winds up the hillside through a residential area. Brown signs at the roundabout already point towards Cigolino and S. Antonio Albareda – settlements above Ronco Nuovo. At a later fork in the road, it’s important to follow the Strada Agroforestale del Consorzio Madonna delle Grazie to the left. From this sign onward, it’s a private road, but you’ll find resident passes for your car at the baite at the top. After 5 hairpin turns, you’ll find the turnoff onto Via Ronco Nuovo and will be practically right in front of the Hideaway.
Airplane
The nearest airports are Bergamo Orio al Serio (106 km), Milan Linate (120 km), Milan Malpensa (140 km), or Zurich (250 km). Of course, you’ll also find various car rental companies there.
Bus and Train
Due to the remote location of our Baite, it is unfortunately not possible to reach us exclusively by train or bus. However, it may make sense if other guests are traveling by public transportation and you can pick them up in Chiavenna (a 10-minute drive).
By train, Chiavenna can be reached directly from the south via Milan. Once a day, a Swiss PostBus also runs directly from the Lugano train station. From the north, take the train via Chur to St. Moritz and then the Swiss PostBus to Chiavenna.
