Peace of mind.
Space for togetherness.

Three baite – historic mountain cabins made of stone and wood—nestled in a sunny clearing above Valchiavenna, an alpine valley between St. Moritz and Lake Como.

Surrounded by sparse woodland, dry-stone terraces, and the vast expanse of the mountains, Ronco Nuovo is more than just comfortable lodging – it is a place to arrive, breathe deeply, and be together.

Starting in April 2027, you’ll be able to book the entire RONCONUOVO hideaway – including all three baite – for your exclusive use directly through our website. Until then, you can book our two Baita TRE and DUE, together upon request. At certain times, it will also be possible to book just Baita TRE. If you’re interested, please email us directly for a personalized quote.

Italian
Interior Design
with historic
charm.

The carefully restored stone houses continue to tell the story of this place with a subtle sense of design. Natural materials, clean lines, and carefully selected designer furniture blend seamlessly with the original structure.

Currently, two baite are available at select times, accommodating up to four adults and offering additional sleeping arrangements for children—ideal for families or friends.

Starting in 2027, another baita will join our hideaway, accommodating an additional 4 to 5 people.

Slow living
outdoors.

The heart of our hideaway beats between the three baite. The large cedar table under the pergola brings everyone together. Eating, drinking, laughing, and good conversations under the open sky. Long evenings by the fire and the feeling that time no longer matters.

Surrounded by a sparse forest in a completely secluded location, the view sweeps across the valley and mountains. The tranquility, the light, and the vastness make the hideaway a place where you can be completely at one with yourself and yet also together with others.

Mountains, Water, Dolce Vita

Once you leave the tranquility of the hideaway behind, you’ll discover a wide range of hiking and swimming opportunities, as well as plenty of Italian laid-back charm. Enjoy an aperitivo in charming Chiavenna, spend an afternoon at the beach, hike off the beaten path and cool off under a waterfall, go canyoning in refreshing pools, or shop in quaint boutiques. Active, enjoyable, and relaxed – there’s something for everyone here.

The Hosts

A foggy and rainy summer evening in August. Hungry and without high expectations, we arrive in Chiavenna, our stopover before our planned hike on the Sentiero Roma above the rugged Val di Mello. The unique atmosphere of the old town’s slightly eerie alleyways accompanies us on our way to our accommodation. For dinner, we sit in a cozy crotto by a crackling fire and feast on the regional specialties of the Citta Slow. We are enchanted.

After our mountain tour, we return straight away. This time with sunshine and extended strolls through the beautiful old town along the river Mera. The town has captivated and charmed us. This is where we find peace.

That’s why we decided to keep coming back. On a mountainside in Valchiavenna, we discovered some half-ruined traditional stone cottages that used to be cow barns, and decided to restore them and make them livable. It’s a project close to our hearts that has further deepened our love for Valchiavenna. Many friends visit us there, and everyone is thrilled.

Not least for this reason, we’ve decided to share this special place with you. For years, we’ve used the baite ourselves, lived here, and experienced the tranquility of this place. Now we’re opening Ronco Nuovo to guests as well – or everyone who wants to experience the seclusion, nature, and unique atmosphere of this little corner of the world.
